Dutch to English Translation & Proofreading
I mainly translate from Dutch to English. Dutch is my native language, and I have a Dutch degree in English. I moved to Scotland in 1988, and since then English has been my language of habitual use. I have been a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting for this combination since 2009.
In my many years of experience as a translator, I have had the opportunity to work on texts from a variety of different disciplines. There are four areas in which I have specialised:
- legal documents and contracts
- business and management
- food, food safety and food production
- culture and history.
I have extensive experience in other areas as well, including property management, finance, human resources, education, horticulture, health & safety and pharmaceutics & healthcare. I also provide certified translations of documents such as qualifications and birth certificates for private clients.
In 2018-2020 I improved the English of a Dutch PhD student’s thesis on music and language. Having written a PhD myself, I am familiar with the process of writing a PhD thesis and the appropriate academic register.
